Mold
As an additional service I offer mold testing. I use state of the art equipment and a very reputable, EPA approved lab (Pro-Lab) for analysis.
You may have been hearing a lot about mold and "sick building syndrome" problems lately and wonder, 'Why is this a problem recently?' Well mold has been around since the beginning (re:Leviticus ch14, ver35-47). If it were not for mold we would be neck deep in leaves, dead plant material,etc. When something is termed biodegradable, mold is the "bio". Over the past few decades our homes have become airtight envelopes. This can lead to higher moisture/humidity levels which is exactly what mold needs to grow. In addition science has taught us that these molds and their by products can be extremely harmful to us. Some can be useful as well, penicillium is used to create antibiotics, mushrooms and yeasts are a molds as well. Allergenic molds cause allergic/asthmatic reactions such as runny nose and wheezing. Pathogenic molds can reduce your immune system and can be fatal to ones with lowered immunities AIDS, Chemotherapy patients, etc. Toxic molds produce poisonous substances called Mycotoxins which can pose a serious health risks to anyone causing a wide array of symptoms; short term irritations, immune system problems, and even cancer. What Is Mold?
• Microscopic organisms whose purpose in ecosystems is to break down dead materials – (It’s the “Bio” in Biodegradable)
• Reproduces by airborne spores (some toxic)
• Produces gasses (some toxic)
• Likes Moisture
• Eats dead organic material (Wood, Paper, Cloth)
• On Average mold likes 32 to 104 F, pH 3-8
• Is found everywhere
• Can begin to form as soon as 24 hours after a moisture event.
